January has not been for the faint of heart.

The period between the New and Full Moon this month has also been the time of Mercury’s Retrograde.

We have been handed an opportunity to rise towards our best selves, because challenges, emotional and spiritual have dominated our hearts and souls.

My guides predicted 2016 to be one of profound change. When I was younger, such predictions would have brought worry and anxiety. Now I understand change as unavoidable shifts that open the consciousness to more love, more growth.

After all, we are here to be part of the mystery, so why should we shy away from the unfolding?

In the last few weeks we have witnessed the deaths of David Bowie, Alan Rickman and Glenn Frey. When brave, creative energy leaves the planet in a highly visible way, it is an opening of a portal. At the edge of the portal lies a call for Awareness. I’ll explain this in a minute.

Now, you may say, many other people left the planet during January, who were not celebrities…are their deaths not important?

Yes, every soul that passes over bears a message from Earth to the next Dimension, where, by the way, we are much more alive than here, unencumbered as we are by a physical body. But here is why celebrity deaths are significant;

When we experience death on a personal level, we mourn in our own little corner. When a celebrity passes, we are united in a collective mourning. A collective expression of emotion on a global scale is incredibly powerful.

Consciousness embraces the outpouring and offers healing en masse as we come together to express our sadness. For however long we humans become engaged in our common reaction to these deaths, we are not arguing, we are not dis-agreeing, we are broken by grief and shock and where the crack in our collective hard human shell appears, Love pours in.

And so we grow, we come further along in our journey towards One-ness.

I remember another year, when we mourned collectively; 1997, the year that Mother Teresa, Princess Diana and John Denver passed on. Together, we cried many tears and turned Inward; seeking Wisdom. Such years, when we look for deeper meaning to our existence, often herald a coming year of unfathomable change.

In 1998, Consciousness experienced these shifts on the planet we call home:

North and South Ireland signed a peace agreement on Good Friday. The Belfast agreement was signed later, ending years of unconscionable violence in Great Britain – to a great degree.

There were many financial crises, such as the devaluation of the Ruble in Russia, the collapse of the housing market in Japan, the Dow Jones fell 500 points in New York.

The Euro was declared as a common currency in Europe.

The Central Bank was created in Frankfurt, Germany.

President Clinton was impeached.

Tsunami’s, earthquakes and hurricanes killed thousands of people worldwide, the worst of which hit Honduras.

The positive in this? We survived and moved on. We gathered ourselves and with the example of the souls we lost guiding us from the Spirit World, we began movements to empower the people. While the world powers were coalescing to become even stronger, we began to wake up to the reality that change had to happen at a grass-roots level.

We’ve deepened our practice on our yoga mat, we have built more inner city gardens, we have lifted our voices in print, we have stood against hunger; we have opened to Compassion.

When the Moon rises full on Saturday the 23rd of January 2016, we will already have deepened our human bond while Mercury races around the Sun.

We will have the strength and full masculine power of Leo at our side. Om Shiva Om.

What can Leo, that roaring, gregarious, sensitive yet bossy sign teach us for the road ahead? For we are not to sit still when so much more is yet to be accomplished.

Leo teaches us confidence in the face of fear. A strong sense of belief when circumstance points in another direction. To motivate when we have the strength to do so and to find solace when we run out of steam. To recognize that together we stand.

While Leo is sociable and ready for a party, he is also the leader who knows when it’s time to fight for justice, for his pride.

We are all part of one pride. A pride of nomads who now traverse this world looking for a better place, a peaceful place.

But peace must come to the place we are in. How far can we run? This year, with the first Full Moon in Leo, we must find ways to create peace in the places we live, because we have run out of new continents to explore. We must stop looking to other hearts for change, it is our own hearts that must expand.

The Full Wolf Moon rises on our opportunity to heal relationships. To feed our immortal soul what every Full Moon promises; a harvest of everything we have sown since the new Moon.

As my Wolf guide often says; “Sit down here beside me, howl with me at the moon.” And then he begins his chant…Om! He howls. Did you know that that is what the Wolf says? His brothers and sisters pick up the chant. Om! I join in.

The sound of the universe, the first, original vibration, representing birth, death and re-birth fills the night sky.

This Full Moon, find some time to make your voice heard.

Namaste, my loves. Om Shakti Om.
